Happy Monday! For the first time in awhile, I’m not posting a training recap today. Because my spring race is OVER! More on that to come soon…but for now, I want to share some bits and pieces of my awesome weekend.
It all started on Friday night, with a delicious solo sushi dinner and early bedtime.
My alarm went off VERY early Saturday AM and I drove into Brooklyn to meet Kara and run the Brooklyn Half Marathon. Race recap coming this week, but spoiler: I PR’ed AND went Sub-2! Boom.
After the race, Kara and I met up with my cousin and some other friends and enjoyed Coney Island lagers. It was only appropriate!
After a shower and nap, boyfriend took me out for a celebratory dinner. We went to Mercato Kitchen in Massapequa Park and I got the Insalata Mercato with broiled salmon on the side. It was perfection.
After dinner, we snuggled up to watch a movie, but I was so exhausted and passed out by 8:30pm. Oops. After a solid 10 hours of sleep, I woke up, struggled to get out of bed, and realized it was #PancakeSunday! Boyfriend and I have been slacking on our pancake game lately, so I was happy to bring it back this Sunday. I whipped up come apple pancakes using apples, almond meal, eggs, banana, milk, vanilla and cinnamon. And drizzled them with REAL maple syrup. Amazing.
After breakfast, I did something I’ve never done before. I went for a massage. My old roommate gifted me a massage for my birthday (thanks, Goof!) so I figured the day after Brooklyn was the perfect time to cash in. You guys, I was SO right. A full-body massage felt absolutely amazing for my sore muscles! 🙂
Since it was a beautiful day, boyfriend and I wanted to spend some time outside. We met up with his sister, brother-in-law and gorgeous niece and went out to the Old Bethpage Village Restoration. This weekend they had a World War II encampment, with a bunch of tanks, artillery and even some warfare demos. Right up boyfriend’s alley…
The Old Bethpage Village Restoration is also home to a farm, which was MY favorite part of the visit. The farm has a CSA and weekly farm stands starting in June and I can’t wait to take advantage of that.
Although I was already happy as a pig in mud [get it? ;)], we then went to the Bethpage street fair, got boyfriend’s niece some new adorable bows and then went out to lunch. I mean, seriously…how cute is she?
And of course, Rocky supervised the ice cream eating…
All in all, one of the best weekends I’ve had in a long time. I’m a happy lady. Bring it on, week!
How was YOUR weekend? Run a race? Eat ice cream? Tell me about it.
