11 weeks down, just 5 to go. And when I count in days (just 34!), it seems even shorter than that. It was around this point in training last year where things started to fall apart for me, so I’m glad I’m feeling stronger this time around. Let’s recap:
Monday 9/22: Rest. I was in Arizona for work and really hoped to do a drop-in at a CrossFit box out there, but it just didn’t happen. I had a long day of work and took this as a rest day.
Tuesday 9/23: 5 miles-1 mile warm-up, 2 miles @ 8:15 pace with 800m jog between, 1 mile cool down. This was brutal. I had to do this run on the treadmill at the hotel gym, because A) I had no clue where to run in Arizona and B) it was about 100*F there when I woke up at 6am. I hate the treadmill, but usually speedwork helps to make the time fly. Not today! I struggled to breathe during the mile repeats and really wanted to just stop. But I didn’t!
Wednesday 9/24: 30 minute yoga. I purchased a groupon a little while back from YogaDownload.com and have been using it at home when I need to get a good stretch in. This came in handy again, when I was about to sit in the airport and on a plane all day, so I cued up my laptop and got a nice workout in.
Thursday 9/25: Rest. I was supposed to run, but it was rainy and I was sleepy…so I didn’t. 🙂
Friday 9/26: 5 easy (9:30 avg pace). And I even found a little Hidden Mickey along my route! Disney magic is always around!
Saturday 9/27: I was supposed to do 3 easy, but asked boyfriend if he wanted to run with me…so easy went out the window. We ran slow for him, but still somewhere around a 9:00 average pace, so fast for me. Then we had some fun in Bethpage State Park playground. We did a tabata core workout (20 seconds bicycle crunches, 10 seconds flutter kicks for 8 rounds), aka 4 minutes of hell. My hips are STILL tight from those flutter kicks!
Sunday 9/28: 18 mile long run. I ended up running the Bronx 10-miler with a bunch of my favorite running buddies, and adding mileage around that. I headed into the city super early Sunday morning and ran 7 miles in Central Park before heading up to the Bronx, where I ran 10 during the race and 1 after. This was SO MUCH BETTER than my last 18-miler.
Possibly definitely because of the friends I ran & brunched with yesterday! 🙂
Weekly totals: 31 miles, 0 CrossFit classes, 2 rest days.
Pretty solid week. Let’s keep that up, yes?! Week 12 is looking like a lot of travel for me and my BEST FRIEND’S WEDDING!!! 20 miles should be no biggie after a weekend of celebrating, right?
