Greetings from Atlanta! I’m here for the annual Food and Nutrition Conference & Expo and today is the last day of presentations, so I’ll be flying back home tonight. I plan on sharing my FNCE experience here on the blog, so stay tuned for that! For now, let’s recap week 14 of workouts!
Monday 10/13: Rest, foam rolling and stretching. Much needed after 20 miles on Sunday!
Tuesday 10/14: 6 miles (5 x 4min @ 9:00 pace with 3 min recovery). It was shockingly humid again, and this run was NOT easy, but got it done.
Wednesday 10/15: I dropped in to CrossFit Lighthouse to take one of boyfriend’s classes and it totally kicked my butt. We warmed up with some easy rowing, then worked on the Snatch balance, then got into the WOD.
The workout was 3 rounds for time of 30 air squats, 30 push-ups, 30 I’m sit ups and 30 double unders (60 singles). Dang, was I sore after this!
Thursday 10/16: Rest
Friday 10/17: 5 easy. I was supposed to do 6 miles, but I got up late and was only able to fit in 5, which I ended up turning into a little bit of a progression run because I realized I might be late to work! Eek!
Saturday 10/18: Rest (& travel to Atlanta for FNCE!)
Sunday 10/19: 12 miles. The plan was for 8 easy paced miles, then coach wanted me to pick up the pace to 9:15-9:20 for the last 4 miles. I’m in Atlanta for the Food and Nutrition Conference & Expo, so I had to schedule this run in around my educational sessions. I ran the Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta last year, so had some sense of where I could run, but mostly winged it! I ran from my hotel to Piedmont Park, then on the Atlanta Belt Line. It was cooler than its been even in NY and I think I was the only runner wearing shorts and a t-shirt! The Belt Line has lots of artwork and things to look at and it was the perfect place to get my run in.
The fast finish miles were a struggle because my route back had some serious hills, but I tried my best! Last 4 splits were 9:14, 9:26, 9:14, 9:39. I’ll take it!
Weekly totals: 23 miles, 1 CrossFit class, 3 rest days, no taper crazies yet!
