Bundling Up for the CrossFit Open

So this happened…

I signed up for the CrossFit Open.  For my non-KoolAid-sipping readers, the Open is a five week competition hosted by CrossFit, where athletes attempt to complete workouts either at their affiliate gym or via YouTube submissions.  Weekly workouts are announced each Thursday, and athletes have 4 days to complete the workout (as many attempts as you want) and submit their best scores.  Athletes who finish near the top of the leaderboard in their area will advance on to Regionals  and potentially The CrossFit Games.  New this year, there is a scaled option for each workout, with lower weights or less challenging movements, making it more accessible to everyone.

So why did I sign up?  I guess my answer is why not?  I’ve been crossfitting for 9 months now and I’m getting a little more comfortable with it.  So why not make myself totally uncomfortable by doing something I’ve never done before?!?  I have no idea what to expect and I’m a little intimidated to be honest.  But CrossFit is all about competing against yourself and monitoring your progress, so it can’t hurt to participate in something that is going to test my limits AND help me see where I’m at.  Hesitant to sign up yourself?  Don’t be.  Or be a little nervous, and do it anyway! Watch this video for some inspiration:

My favorite line from that video is “You don’t know what you can do until you actually try.”  So sign up!  Try! And if you’ve competed in the Open before, give me all the advice you have…since I know I’ll be struggling with even the scaled workouts. Eek! 🙂

To get you geared up for the Open, Reebok has some sweet deals right now.  Like the Nano and Lifter Bundle for just $175!  So you can get one pair or Nano 4.0s (usually $119) and one pair or Lifter 2.0s (usually $149.99) for only $175, plus free shipping.  NO BRAINER!  Though I am a Reebok affiliate and will make some $ if you use my links to purchase this deal, I would be telling you about it even if I wasn’t making any money!  I took advantage of this myself and scooped up two pairs last night!

For the Bundle deal, make sure you put only Nano 4.0 and Lifter 2.0 in your cart, and use code “GEARUP” to get this deal.  This offer does exclude Reebok CrossFit Lifter Plus 2.0 and shoes that end in $0.98.

In addition, you can use code “GearingYouUp” for 30% off Nano 4.0s alone, which is a $36.00 savings!

So that’s all my excitement for today, friends.  I’m celebrating my Open registration by attempting to do 14.1 from last year’s Open tonight.  Stay tuned!

Are you signed up for the CrossFit Open?  What’s something you’ve done that is outside your comfort zone? Have any good gear deals for me?
