Hi friends! I’m so excited to share today’s post because I’m (finally) reviewing the JerkFit WODies & Nubs! It’s no secret on here that I fell hard for CrossFit and have been doing it for a little over a year now. After really learning the basics, I started to get into the gear that could help my performance. I became a sucker for Junk headbands, I bought Reebok Nanos (affiliate link) and eventually a pair of lifters too! I came to terms with my random bruises and daily sore muscles, and even started to look forward to “earning” my callouses and ripped hands. Until I realized that those ripped hands hurt! Not to mention that torn up skin and callouses aren’t so awesome when you’re shaking hands during business meetings. So how could I keep working on gymnastics and barbell lifts without messing up my precious palms? JerkFit WODies!
The folks at JerkFit sent me a Combo Kit, which has both the WODies for your hands/wrists and Nubs for your thumbs…and a cute little bag to keep them all in.
One of my favorite things about the WODies (vs other grip products) is that you size them yourself! You choose a size based on your hand measurements, but you cut the finger holes to fit YOUR hand.
I really wanted to put the WODies & Nubs to the test before reviewing them on here and I’ve been using them for about 3 months now. They are an absolute
life hand-saver for me when it comes to any movements on the rig (i.e. pull-ups and toes-to-bar). My grip strength still needs some work, but I find I am able to hang onto the bar for longer when I wear the WODies, because nothing is pinching and my skin isn’t ripping. I definitely get them chalked up too, as JerkFit recommends.Besides saving my hands from unsightly callouses and rips, the wrist supports help so much during overhead movements like snatching and overhead squats. They’re easily adjustable, comfortable and washable. Big thumbs up!
Speaking of thumbs, the Nubs provide unparalleled protection when you use the hook grip. Early in my CF days, I started noticing a redness/rubbing on the inside of my thumbs after class, which is now completely solved by the Nubs. They help you lock in your grip while reducing friction between your thumb and the bar. Plus they absorb some sweat, which is helpful for my sweaty self!
So if you’re a newbie or an old-timer and questioning whether or not you need palm protection and wrist support…stop right now and go get yourself some WODies. I’ve noticed more and more people at my gym using the WODies and everyone swears by them! Make your hands happy, people!
Tell me…do you use hand protection or suffer with torn up palms? Still wrapping your hands with tape?
