CrossFit Endurance Training Week 8

Good morning and helloooo fall weather! It’s about dang time! Even though I didn’t run this morning, I was excited about the low humidity and cool temperatures we woke up to here in NY.  I’m so excited for cool morning runs in the upcoming week.  But first, let’s check out what went down last week in half marathon training.

Monday 9/7: Since this was Labor Day and I knew I had an early start for work Tuesday morning, I opted to switch my two-a-day to Monday.  

AM—> 6 x 600m with 400m recovery between.  Holy humidity! I got a late start in the morning, so the sun was out in full force and I wanted to quit almost as soon as I got started.  But I didn’t quit (success!) and ended up with 3:05, 2:58, 3:07, 3:01, 3:03, 3:04.

PM—> Yoga.  This was supposed to be a CrossFit workout, but I just couldn’t motivate myself to do anything too intense.  


Tuesday 9/8: CrossFit.  I dropped in at CrossFit Smithtown (potential new home gym).  We started with a group warm-up and then some push presses/rope climbs.  The WOD was an 8-minute AMRAP of 8 toes-to-bar, 4 Handstand Push-ups and 10 wall balls.

Wednesday 9/9: CrossFit again at Smithtown.  15 minutes to work on a heavy double squat clean, then 4×3 front squats.  Then 8 min AMRAP: 15 calorie row, 3 power cleans, 6 burpees, 9 goblet squats.  

Thursday 9/10: Rest.  Boyfriend and I had planned to do our track work together after work (4 x 1000m repeats), but it was absolutely pouring and instead we 

Friday 9/11: Rest.

Saturday 9/12: The CrossFit Endurance training plan we’re following called for a 15k Time Trial.  In previous recaps, I’ve shared how this type of training has put a lot of pressure on me and given me some anxiety.  Therefore, rather than stress about pace, I just decided to go out and run 9.3 miles as best I could given the conditions of the day.  Thank goodness I had that mindset going in, because 90% humidity crushed my goals anyway.  I was drenched within the first mile and was beyond thirsty throughout my run.  I even stopped once to get a water bottle to refill my handheld..for only 9 miles! Craziness.  I finished the run with a 10:37 average pace, not what I was hoping for at all.  But I’m over it now and moving on to the next week!

Sunday 9/13: Rest.  In hindsight, I should not have had 3 rest days this week, but with some crazy commuting and wanting to spend time with the bf that’s what happened.  Oh well!

Tonight will be an at-home CrossFit workout to start the week off right.  Happy Monday, friends!
