Happy Friday y’all! I feel like I’ve been neglecting my little blog a bit, mostly because I don’t have anything to report on the fitness front lately. At the end of October, I wrote about how I was going to get my butt in gear and back in the gym. In all honesty, it just hasn’t happened. I’ve got lots of excuses–work and being a new homeowner is stressful, I’m traveling more, I haven’t signed up for the new CrossFit gym yet, etc. Right now I’m not “walking the walk” when it comes to eating well and fitting exercise in and I’m beating myself up over it. I’ve struggled with a lot of guilt, shame and embarrassment over how I just can’t “get it together”. I can’t seem to take my own advice and end up feeling awful about myself. But I’m working on it and I’m coming to terms with the fact that I’m not perfect. I’m a dietitian and fitness enthusiast who isn’t on top of her game right now. And THAT’S OKAY. I’m learning to forgive myself, just as I ask my patients/clients to do, and move on. So rather than share this week’s fitness adventures, let’s talk about a few other things I’m loving.
Wash Club Long Island. Remember that stress I was talking about before? Yeah, two weeks ago our washing machine died and we had to buy a brand new one. Then, this past week our cess pool needed to be serviced and we had some restrictions on using water, including that brand spankin new washing machine! The laundry began piling up and I needed to take action, keeping my animosity toward laundromats in mind. I’ve spent wayyy too much time in laundromats in my younger years and I had no desire to do it again. I looked into drop-off services and came across Wash Club, a laundry service that will come pick up your laundry, wash, dry and fold it and delivery it back to you within 24 hours…and at a comparable rate to the laundromat! SOLD!
I had such a great experience using Wash Club and definitely recommend it to anyone in need of super convenient laundering services. Use code “kimberlysaintjames” for 25% off your order (you only get 20% if you do it on your own!).
Rent the Runway. I may be late to the game on this one, but man did I love this service for the wedding I attended last week! If you haven’t signed up for RTR yet and want to, let me know so I can e-mail you an invitation and we’ll both get a $20 rental credit! The dress I rented was affordable ($40) and in great shape. It was so comfortable and I got a ton of compliments! Here’s what it looked like in our little pre-wedding family photo:
Shipyard Pumpkinhead Ale. I had a few of these during the wedding celebrations last weekend and I was reminded how much I love this beer. It is hands-down the best pumpkin beer I’ve tried so far. If y’all know other good pumpkin beers out there, let me know!
This Curling Wand. Notice the wavy hair in that wedding pic? I borrowed the wand while getting ready for the wedding and loved the results so much that I ordered one using Amazon Prime the next day. Now I have one of my own and I’m already obsessed.
That’s all the good stuff I have to share this week. I have high hopes to get back on the fitness bandwagon this weekend, especially considering I have that 10-mile race in January to start training for! Either way, my goal is to be a lot more forgiving with myself. Nobody is perfect, am I right?! Have a great weekend, friends.
Tell me…do you beat yourself for being imperfect? How do you practice self-forgiveness? Have you used Rent the Runway!? What products or services are you digging lately?
