Disclosure: w.o.d.welder provided me with products to review and giveaway, but I was not compensated for this review in any way.
Let’s talk about one nasty side effect of CrossFit: tears, blisters and rips on your hands. Dangling from the pull-up rig, lifting barbells and chalking up before all of that creates dry, cracked skin along with some serious calluses, which can become super painful. And worse, they can put you out of commission for a few days if you rip badly or get infected. Plus, if you’re in the corporate/professional world, shaking hands can be awkward when your hands are a mess or wrapped in bandages all the time.
Knowing that the CrossFit Open is most definitely going to serve us up some workouts that will be tough on our hands (ahem, 16.2!), I partnered up with my friends at w.o.d.welder to spread the word on their awesome products, plus host an giveaway over on my Instagram. Everyone likes giveaways, right? If you haven’t entered yet, what are you waiting for?! The giveaway ends tonight at 8pm, so click over, follow myself and w.o.d.welder and tag 2 friends who could use some w.o.d.welder in their lives! I’ll wait.
Okay, so now that you’re entered to win the handcare kit, let’s back up a bit and I’ll tell you why you need this stuff in your life. w.o.d. welder makes all types of products to protect and heal your skin, including the most popular Hands as Rx cream and the Salve (pictured below).
The salve is like a big giant chapstick for your hands, which I slather on before workouts to minimize damage. hydrates your hands and smoothes calluses, plus the push-up stick seems to last foreverrrrr. I typically rub it on my calluses before workouts before I start drying stuff out with chalk.
Speaking of chapstick, w.o.d.welder also makes a lip balm which I’m so excited about. In fact, I loved it even before I cracked it open, simply because they call it “Lip Gainz”. I am addicted to lip balm and keep one literally everywhere I could possibly need it: my car, my purse, nightstand, desk at work, kitchen drawer. Not kidding (ask the boyfriend)! In addition to the lip balm, w.o.d.welder makes bar soap, odor crushers (satchels and sprays) bath bombs, callus shavers and more!
The soaps are crafted with food grade oils, and free from dyes, additives, chemicals or synthetics. I can’t tell you quite yet if it has any impact on recovery, but the bar soap definitely left me feeling clean without drying my skin out. Anyone else hate when you don’t actually feel clean after using soap?! That is such a pet peeve of mine and wasn’t an issue with the w.o.d.welder soap!
Of all the w.o.d.welder products, the Hands as Rx cream is my very favorite. I like to say it works like the ointment Katniss receives during The Hunger Games, magically healing wounds in approximately 3 seconds. Kind of kidding, mostly serious. I keep this stuff at my desk and use it to moisturize my hands during the day, plus I use it at night before going to bed, which is a bonus because those peppermint and eucalyptus oils are calming and help me sleep!
There is a disclosure at the top of this post because I’m a firm believer in transparency and I think you deserve to know when I’ve received product in exchange for a review. That being said, I’ve been a big fan of w.o.d.welder for some time now. I’ve even mentioned it previously on the blog here, here and here. I have purchased it with my own dolla-dolla bills prior to this review and will continue to do so in the future. I’m mostly just excited to share such a great product with you and offer you a chance to try it out for yourself via my Instagram giveaway! Seriously, did you enter yet?! In case you don’t want to wait (or worse, don’t win…), be sure to use code OPEN16 for 20% off your order!
Your turn: Are your hands Rx? Which w.o.d.welder product would you like to try? Did you enter my giveaway yet?!
