Happy RDN Day! Part of my role as a corporate dietitian for a dining services company (especially during National Nutrition Month) involves visiting our cafes and educating guests on nutrition topics. So today, you can catch me celebrating RDN Day by doing just that: talking all things health and wellness with guests at one of our cafes in Brooklyn.
Here on the blog, I wanted to celebrate by sharing the RD-love! For the past few years during National Nutrition Month, Lindsay of The Lean Green Bean Blog shares a list of RD bloggers. I love seeing the list expand each year and I always find some new favorites to add to my blog roll. In a spin-off of that, today I’m sharing a few of my personal favorite posts from some of those dietitian bloggers. Check out all of the awesomeness our little nutrition-corner of the internet has to offer…
Because Being Healthy Means Not ALWAYS Being Healthy by Anne at FANNEtastic Food. I love Anne’s honesty in this post and we share the same sentiment on “good” and “bad” foods.
RD Real Talk: I Usually Don’t Care What You Eat by Heather Caplan. This girl’s “real talk” has taken off on her blog and I can’t get enough. And in case you’re wondering, I also don’t care what you eat unless you’re a client who is asking for my professional advice.
Finding Joy in Food by Alex Caspero. An all-around awesome person and RD, I love Alex’s approach to finding peace with food.
What is Healthy? and Celebrity Diets, Trashy Magazines and Snark by Rachael Hartley. I’m kind of obsessed with Rachael’s Wellness Wednesday series and always find myself nodding along as I read. Plus, I’m always up for some snark!
What Happens When You Stop Dieting and Listen to Your Body? by Lauren Fowler. Lauren writes a lot about intuitive eating and this post about ditching diets and letting yourself find freedom in eating is fantastic.
Why You Should Own Your Story by Kara Lydon. Kara’s “Mindful Monday” series is ahhhhmazing and this post inspired by Brene Brown is one of my favorites.
Cleanses Make Me Cry by Meme Inge. Amen, sister. Meme nails it on the head with this post and shares some delicious real food recipes to boot!
It’s Not All About Diet and Exercise by Emily Hein. I am so intrigued by the Blue Zones and I love the concept of self-care as an essential part of overall wellness.
How Negative Food Messages Actually Hurt You by Melanie & Rebecca at Be Truly Nourished. YES YES YES. Let’s focus on the positive messages instead of the negative ones, because it matters!
Why Not To Go On a Diet This Year by Kylie at ImmaEATthat. Kylie’s posts always resonate with me and she is one of the ladies in this list I feel lucky to have met IRL. If nothing else, you need to follow her on Instagram and check out her genius cookie creations!
Lastly, I can’t talk about National Nutrition Month and dietitian bloggers without telling you about some of the websites and resources out there for sharing healthy food ideas! The Recipe Redux and Healthy Aperture are two fantastic sites you can (and should!) check out for health-focused food photography and recipes. Many of the RD bloggers I listed above are part of either or both of these groups.
I hope you enjoy these sites/posts/dietitian bloggers as much as I do! Now go hug an RD and wish them Happy RDN day! 🙂
