Hiya friends! I’m back from our Disney vacation and wanted to quickly share some of the food and fun we enjoyed last week. For anyone who hasn’t experienced the most magical place on Earth, it’s awesome but it is exhausting. Knowing this, I tried to make sure I planned some relaxing pool time in between our trips to the parks. This vacation involved a lot less exercise (besides ALL the walking) and a lot more booze and ice cream than I’ve been used to lately. Which was A-OK with me, as it was also a much needed break from the craziness of “real life” lately. Here’s a quick recap with photos!
Dinner on Day 1 was at La Hacienda de San Angel in Mexico at EPCOT and you bet your butt I opted for a margarita! I’m not a fan of sour mix or overly sweet drinks, so this one was just tequila and lime juice. My brother ordered a Mango Blueberry Basil margarita which looked SO good too!
The next morning, I took boyfriend on a running tour of our resort (Saratoga Springs) and Disney Springs (formerly Downtown Disney). We stopped for a quick touristy photo opp with the holiday decor and I’m surprised you can’t see how truly sweaty we were! The warmth and humidity in Florida were definitely a shocker to us.
What is NOT a shocker is that boyfriend’s favorite park was EPCOT, especially Germany and Norway where the “good” beers can be found! Doing some day drinking in the sunshine on a Monday afternoon was such a treat for us!
We all know I can get pretty hangry and since the snack choices at Disney parks aren’t always ideal, I brought some RxBars and Lara bars with me. I did love seeing vendors with fruit and veggie snack options among the Mickey Bars, snow cones and pretzels, though!
Because our resort is located within walking distance of Disney Springs, we actually ate several meals there during our stay. My favorite restaurant there is The Boathouse. My whole family went there for dinner one night and then boyfriend and I returned for lunch later in the week too. You may remember I also went to The Boathouse back in May during the Today’s Dietitian Spring Symposium and I ordered the same fish tacos this time around.
Of note, I also ordered this Floridian Hefeweizen beer from Funky Buddha Brewery and I am now obsessed. I need to find this in NY because it was delish! Plus, I love the good vibes message from the company! 😉 #hippiealert
On our final night in Disney, we returned to The World Showcase in EPCOT yet again. Since we didn’t have dinner plans, boyfriend suggested “eating around the world”, which I immediately loved the idea of! Unfortunately, boyfriend doesn’t love sushi and I don’t eat meat, so our choices were a little bit limited in a few countries. We were able to find sufficient desserts in most of the countries, though! In fact, we kicked off our world tour in France and ate at the Boulangerie and the artisinal ice cream shop. Ya know, to make up for the countries we skipped! 😉
In addition to all of our foodie fun, we managed to explore all of the parks, see some amazing fireworks, go on a few rides and even have a little friendly competition. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is one of my fave rides/games, so that was a must for newbie boyfriend. I let him win this time around, but I’d also say he has a little more shooting experience than I do. Check out the intensity!
All in all, we had a nice trip and enjoyed lots of food and fun times with my family. I didn’t add any pics of my nephews here, but they had a blast too and it was so fun to chase after those crazy boys all week. Boyfriend is officially initiated into the crazy Disney fam and although we didn’t take a picture with the Mouse (#DisneyFail), but did get this semi-blurry one in front of Cinderella’s castle!
