Marathon Training: Week 5

I can’t believe I’m already finished with 5 weeks of marathon training!  Maybe it’s because this past week was a cutback week and I haven’t gotten to my higher mileage yet, but I don’t really believe I’m training for 26.2 miles yet.  Call me crazy, but I’m really looking forward to some more intense workouts and some longer distances.  But first, let’s recap Week 5!

Monday: Refine Method (60min) with Liz & Beth.  This was my first time at Refine Method and supposedly I got off “easy”!  I have to admit I didn’t feel the effects immediately, but was definitely sore the next day or two!

Tuesday: 4 easy miles + 4 strides

Wednesday: Rest day!

Thursday: 4 easy

Friday: Rest

Saturday: Hiking 2.5 hours-I usually save Saturdays for long runs, but decided to push it off to Sunday and take a day trip to go hiking with the BF instead.  We went up to Harriman State Park and spent a few hours taking in some of Mother Nature’s beauty! 🙂

Taking in the sights!

Sunday: 8 mile LR (10:33 average pace)- I did a solo run from my apartment to Roosevelt Island, around the island and back.  It was surprisingly humid for being not that hot out and I ended up taking some breaks to refill my FuelBelt and take in some city sights.  I love exploring the city on foot because you can take in beautiful views and really get distracted from the distance you’re putting in!

Total weekly mileage: 16

Week 6 will be a little higher in mileage and hopefully include some yoga and spinning!  Stay tuned…
